The update from Jeremy 4 days ago worked for me! Many thanks!
Jeremy,
Firstly, Thank you for your hard work to solve this Orba DFU issues.
However, I am sorry to tell you the solution you've show us above reply doesn't revive my Orba still.
I have tried drag update file two times as you instructed because first try failed.
Then I pressed down power button for a while and did the same process. It failed again.
Please refer to the screen shot files of log I've tried just now.
Regards,
But, It's Failed.I captured screenshot.
support@artiphon.com or use the Ticket form above. Jeremy from Artiphon posted a support article about this issue yesterday that's worth checking out first.
@Jeremy,
Orba in DFU mode recognizes as STM Boot Loader in Device manager on Windows10.
The issue is that the default "inbox" driver that Windows uses for devices like this isn't set up for Generic USB access with libraries like "libusb."
(It would be need change STM32 BOOTLOADER driver to WinUSB driver by Zadig.
Yikes! My Orba seems to near my door and I would think will be arriving in a day or two (finally). But now I dont know if it is safe to install it because I obviously dont want it to be a paperweight after reading some of this thread
So I would like to know if the new firmware patch I saw here which I downloaded actually works and if it is safe to install Orba when it comes (finally).
It's a win 10 machine and I have the win app installed. Also have the Android beta installed on my phone but I;m not going anyhere near that for now. I dont have any Apple devices.
Soooooo...what do I do? Thanks..anyone in the know? The irony of waiting all this time to receive something and then not being able to use it is remarkable
Hi all!
I ended up here after I bricked my Orba by doing a firmware update, right after receiving it. This all happened using Mac.
After trying all the suggestions from Arthipon's guide + what was written here at the forum, I ended up trying a last resort. I downloaded Orba's app for windows, and connected the Orba to a windows machine. This solved the problem, I had to do a forced update: f the above procedure does not work:
@Jeremy
Thanks for uploading Orba firmware zip.
But my Orba's firmware update failed on Windows10 yet.
I think dfu-uitl is not downloaded on C:\Users\{USERNAME}\AppData\Roaming\Artiphon\Orba\UpdateUtilities\dfu-util-win
So I manually placed dfu-util.ext and libusb-1.0.dll but still update failed. Update log is below

There is nothing in C:\Users\ilove\AppData\Roaming\Artiphon\Orba\UpdateUtilities\dfu-util-win\ for the method of updating the farm locally. What about distributing this utility in advance?
Hey @Arne, thanks for the extra information. I added the log text to the ticket I opened day before yesterday.
I was having this same problem with the device on windows pc. simple disconnecting and reconnecting to the computer resolved the issue.
@Kenneth
I am sorry for my unreadable pictures attached.
I have converted them from PNG to JPEG and hope it works.

The Orba arrived this morning, I was able to play with it for a bit before downloading the IOS app and being told to update the firmware. I did and after it completed the Orba will no longer turn on.
